Stewart Redwood is an independent geological consultant specializing in minerals exploration and project evaluation.  Dr. Redwood has more than 30 years’ experience in minerals exploration including over 20 years in Latin America.  He has visited over 60 countries and has crossed both polar circles. He is from Scotland and is resident in Panama.

Dr. Redwood has a degree in geology from Glasgow University (1982) and obtained his Ph.D. from Aberdeen University (1986) for his work on the gold and silver deposits of Bolivia.  He then worked for the British Geological Survey in regional mapping and mineral exploration in Scotland (1986 – 1989).  From 1989  to 1994 he was the Director of Exploration for Mintec S.A., the largest mining consulting company in Bolivia.  In 1994 he joined Inmet Mining Corporation (previously called Minnova Inc. and Metall Mining Corp.) as a Project Geologist than a Senior Geologist in South and Central America.  This included secondment to the feasibility study team for the Antamina copper and zinc project in Peru.  In Antamina he supervised the reserve drilling program that increased mineable reserves fourfold to 500 million tonnes grading 1.2% copper and 1.0% zinc. Antamina began commercial production in 2001.  His last position with Inmet was General Manager Peru.  In 2000 Dr. Redwood was with AngloGold Ltd. (now AngloGold Ashanti) as Chief Geologist for South America, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He supervised mine site exploration at Cerro Vanguardia in Argentina; Morro Velho, Cuiaba and Crixas in Brazil; generative programs in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia; and project reviews in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Dominican Republic and Nevada.

Since 2000 Dr. Redwood has worked independently as a consultant geologist and business developer. He has set up several private companies including Exploration & Discovery Latin America (Panama) Inc. (E&D) to carry out exploration for gold, copper, silver and zinc in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Central America and Peru. He has participated in listing and financing several companies on stock exchanges including GoldQuest Mining Corp. on TSX-V of which he was the first President & CEO, and Colombia Goldfields Ltd (Vice President Exploration). He has carried out geological assignments in this period in Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guyana, Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Turkey and Ethiopia.

Dr. Redwood is a Fellow of The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a Fellow of the Geological Society of London (FGS), a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists, and a Member of the Geological Society of America.  He has published over 100technical papers, articles and maps about geology, history and other subjects.
